Boswellia — The super ingredient for your joints

This is why boswellia should be the new super ingredient to look out for. This highly researched ingredient with positive results can improve joint pain, mobility and overall joint health.

New Leading Ingredient for Joint Health

Recent studies have shown that new ingredients are emerging as key ingredients in joint-health supplements. These findings come after positive results following numerous trials on Boswellia serrata extract, an ingredient derived from the gum resin of the Boswellia tree. The international journal, Phytotherapy Research published results from a 120 days clinical study conducted in May 2019, whereby 42 participants aged between 35 to 75 were given either placebo tablets or Boswellia seratta extract tablets. The participants in this study included men and women who were newly diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis.

The results of the study were measured by assessing the participant’s walking movements through 6-minute walking tests conducted on days 30, 60, 90 and 120 of the study. X-ray images were then analyzed to denote any changes from before the treatment period to after the treatment period. The study yielded great results finding that those who took the Boswellia extract tablet had experienced improvement in pain, stiffness and physical function by the end of the trial. Additionally, the X-ray scans revealed that the gaps in between the joints of the participant’s knee as well as bone spurs improved greatly when compared to the participants who took the placebo. Dr. Muhammed Majeed founder of Sami-Sabinsa Group further reinstates the significance of this test by stating “This is the first study with Boswellia serrata extract conducted for a period of 120 days, longer than any other previous clinical trial on patients with osteoarthritis of the knee.”

The aforementioned study is just one of the numerous studies that have been conducted regarding boswellia serrata extract. Another study published in 2019 to the Journal of American College of Sports Medicine, and another 2016 study published into the European Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences all found very similar positive results to the first study mentioned.

A lot of existing studies conducted on the positive benefits of Boswellia use Boswellin® from Sabinsa as their source of Boswellia. At Life Nutrition our Joint Support product also sources its Boswellia from the renowned supplier of Sabinsa.
